NoMars

No one likes throwing down cash for fenders.

Watch a stray fender float by after a storm and note your reaction- is it cha-CHING and a fumble for the boathook? Mine sure is.

Fenders are expensive, and Gel Coat repairs can be very expensive.

Enter Holmes Marine, a mom and pop organization that make one thing, and they make that one thing very, very well. They make long wearing, dock mounted hull protection. They call it a NoMar. It’s a big solid bumper you screw in to the dock, or if the harbormaster won’t allow that, strap onto the dock. It’s expensive at about $25-30 a foot, and it’s worth every penny.

Our fellow liveaboard Wayne once gave us a few well used NoMars- they were the strap variety, about 4′ long. We pressure washed them back to white, had the marina install them, and promptly forgot about them.  That was 10 years ago and we still use them.

They’re easy to keep clean and if properly installed, have an amazing lifespan. They make harbormasters happy by reducing your capacity to scuff up your boat while in your slip. They make your neighbors happy because they make the docks look more attractive. And yes, ‘merica- they’re Made in the USA.

It is the very first product we are recommending. You should check it out.
